Narrative:
On short approach to bos airport we encountered severe turbulence, followed by an aft baggage compartment 'smoke warning.' we declared an emergency, requested crash fire rescue equipment, notified flight attendant of a planned evacuate/evacuation, landed, evacuate/evacuationed. No injuries. No smoke was found by crash fire rescue equipment and PIC. Aircraft was written up for smoke warning after severe turbulence encounter. Perhaps aircraft could get more baggage nets to secure bags from flying around in compartment and striking smoke detectors.

Title: ON SHORT APCH TO BOS ARPT ENCOUNTERED SEVERE TURB FOLLOWED BY AN AFT BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT 'SMOKE WARNING.' FLC DECLARED AN EMER, REQUESTED CRASH EQUIP. AFTER SAFE LNDG EVACED PAX WITHOUT INJURY. FALSE WARNING APPARENTLY CAUSED BY BAGGAGE FLYING AROUND IN TURB, STRIKING THE SMOKE DETECTOR.
