Narrative:

During my session working fort lauderdale departure position there was severe WX in the area. During my session the WX displayed was not working properly. The entire northeast quadrant was missing. The WX during this period was very critical and hindered proper handling of the departures. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated they are using the ASR-9 radar system and indicated there had been several occurrences in which there was quadrantal loss of radar displayed WX. He indicated that he has not experienced this situation recently nor has he heard of any other occurrences.

Title: SIT RPTED INVOLVED THE LOSS OF RADAR DISPLAYED WX IN ONE QUADRANT.

Narrative: DURING MY SESSION WORKING FORT LAUDERDALE DEP POS THERE WAS SEVERE WX IN THE AREA. DURING MY SESSION THE WX DISPLAYED WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE ENTIRE NE QUADRANT WAS MISSING. THE WX DURING THIS PERIOD WAS VERY CRITICAL AND HINDERED PROPER HANDLING OF THE DEPS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THEY ARE USING THE ASR-9 RADAR SYS AND INDICATED THERE HAD BEEN SEVERAL OCCURRENCES IN WHICH THERE WAS QUADRANTAL LOSS OF RADAR DISPLAYED WX. HE INDICATED THAT HE HAS NOT EXPERIENCED THIS SIT RECENTLY NOR HAS HE HEARD OF ANY OTHER OCCURRENCES.
