Narrative:
Cleared by harrisburg approach to 3000 ft and to depart the har VOR on a 130 degree heading. Expect visual for runway 13 at mdt. Told to keep speed up. All navaids were tuned and idented for mdt. Captain observed bright runway lights with proper orientation. Quick glance at the map display and needle point on the ADF suggested that it was the right airport. Told first officer who agreed that was the airport. Descended to approximately 400 ft on the approach when mdt tower controller advised us that we were on final for capital city airport. Initiated go around. Flew over runway 13 at mdt and then entered a left. Vectors from har VOR tended to put us more south of the susquehana river. Capital city runway lights loomed bright/clear with proper orientation. Mdt runway lights were not as obvious due to its directional nature. Fatigue played a factor.

Title: FK10 FLC MAKES VISUAL APCH TO WRONG ARPT. APCH CTLR CATCHES ERROR AND INTERVENES.
Narrative: CLRED BY HARRISBURG APCH TO 3000 FT AND TO DEPART THE HAR VOR ON A 130 DEG HDG. EXPECT VISUAL FOR RWY 13 AT MDT. TOLD TO KEEP SPD UP. ALL NAVAIDS WERE TUNED AND IDENTED FOR MDT. CAPT OBSERVED BRIGHT RWY LIGHTS WITH PROPER ORIENTATION. QUICK GLANCE AT THE MAP DISPLAY AND NEEDLE POINT ON THE ADF SUGGESTED THAT IT WAS THE RIGHT ARPT. TOLD FO WHO AGREED THAT WAS THE ARPT. DSNDED TO APPROX 400 FT ON THE APCH WHEN MDT TWR CTLR ADVISED US THAT WE WERE ON FINAL FOR CAPITAL CITY ARPT. INITIATED GAR. FLEW OVER RWY 13 AT MDT AND THEN ENTERED A L. VECTORS FROM HAR VOR TENDED TO PUT US MORE S OF THE SUSQUEHANA RIVER. CAPITAL CITY RWY LIGHTS LOOMED BRIGHT/CLR WITH PROPER ORIENTATION. MDT RWY LIGHTS WERE NOT AS OBVIOUS DUE TO ITS DIRECTIONAL NATURE. FATIGUE PLAYED A FACTOR.
