Narrative:
Requested ATC clearance by voice as per ACARS pre departure clearance instructions. ATC cleared us to destination 'as filed' with specific SID. 'As filed' was dtw-cavvs-vwv-ape-hmv-sug- V185-unman-gsp. En route, between vwv and ape, ZOB asks us if we are going direct rod. We said 'no, we are going direct ape, as filed.' ZOB ARTCC says his strip shows vwv-rod- flm-hmv. After some discussion ZOB concludes someone rerouted us (prior to departure) but did not read us the new clearance. We called our dispatch to see if they had done this. They had not changed our route, but dispatch informed us that ZID had rerouted this same flight the day before for traffic flow management. Dispatch said they will note on paperwork for crews to get full route clearance prior to departure. Conclusion: reroute us if you want, but be sure and tell us about it.
