Narrative:
Severe turbulence encounter. Location: txk/270/20. Approaching txk at FL290 aircraft encountered severe turbulence. Autoplt tripped off and aircraft climbed approximately 1500 ft. Notified ZFW, but aircraft was in heavy rain storm with st. Elmos static. When able to transmit and receive center aircraft was back at FL290.

Title: FLC OF AN MLG FAILED TO MAINTAIN ASSIGNED ALT DUE TO SEVERE TURB TRIPPING OFF THE AUTOPLT.
Narrative: SEVERE TURB ENCOUNTER. LOCATION: TXK/270/20. APCHING TXK AT FL290 ACFT ENCOUNTERED SEVERE TURB. AUTOPLT TRIPPED OFF AND ACFT CLBED APPROX 1500 FT. NOTIFIED ZFW, BUT ACFT WAS IN HVY RAIN STORM WITH ST. ELMOS STATIC. WHEN ABLE TO XMIT AND RECEIVE CTR ACFT WAS BACK AT FL290.
