Aircraft equipment problem. Temporary dual HSI VOR failure. Loss of the vors occurred just as flight crew was preparing to intercept a radial in accordance with their clearance. Flight crew was able to correct the problem and proceeded normally.

During intercept of assigned radial, 046 degree radial mem to join middy 7 arrival, encountered dual failure of VOR information. Resulted in flight through assigned radial. Corrected mechanical problem and proceeded normally. No conflict with other traffic.
