Narrative:
On approach to landing at phx our left engine caught fire. Flames were seen when landing gear was lowered. Flames flared on landing. Fuel lines were closed, throttles opened to divert fuel away from fire. Flames subsided before emergency vehicles arrived at scene, but engine was still smoking (lifeguard flight with patient on board).

Title: PA31, NAVAJO HAS FIRE IN L ENG ON APCH AND LNDG.
Narrative: ON APCH TO LNDG AT PHX OUR L ENG CAUGHT FIRE. FLAMES WERE SEEN WHEN LNDG GEAR WAS LOWERED. FLAMES FLARED ON LNDG. FUEL LINES WERE CLOSED, THROTTLES OPENED TO DIVERT FUEL AWAY FROM FIRE. FLAMES SUBSIDED BEFORE EMER VEHICLES ARRIVED AT SCENE, BUT ENG WAS STILL SMOKING (LIFEGUARD FLT WITH PATIENT ON BOARD).
