Narrative:
Center had given us a descent to cross hadar intersection at 10000 ft. I entered the 10000 ft in the FMS accidentally beside wakel intersection (50 NM further along the route). 5 NM before hadar, center asked us if we were going to make our hadar restr. We were still at 19000 ft. Vectors were issued. More diligence in confirming that the proper button was pushed may help prevent this. Two pilots (CRM) checking that proper entries had been entered in FMS would help. Better situation awareness may have discovered the mistake in time. I was feeling very tired at the time due to an XX00 wake up call on east coast time when my body clock was still on pacific time and this contributed to my lack of awareness. The position of the entry buttons, relative to the CRT screen makes it easy to enter items on the wrong line.

Title: IMPROPER FMS ENTRY AND LACK OF BACKUP NAV RESULTED IN FLC NOT FOLLOWING CLRNC AND XING RESTR.
Narrative: CTR HAD GIVEN US A DSCNT TO CROSS HADAR INTXN AT 10000 FT. I ENTERED THE 10000 FT IN THE FMS ACCIDENTALLY BESIDE WAKEL INTXN (50 NM FURTHER ALONG THE RTE). 5 NM BEFORE HADAR, CTR ASKED US IF WE WERE GOING TO MAKE OUR HADAR RESTR. WE WERE STILL AT 19000 FT. VECTORS WERE ISSUED. MORE DILIGENCE IN CONFIRMING THAT THE PROPER BUTTON WAS PUSHED MAY HELP PREVENT THIS. TWO PLTS (CRM) CHKING THAT PROPER ENTRIES HAD BEEN ENTERED IN FMS WOULD HELP. BETTER SIT AWARENESS MAY HAVE DISCOVERED THE MISTAKE IN TIME. I WAS FEELING VERY TIRED AT THE TIME DUE TO AN XX00 WAKE UP CALL ON E COAST TIME WHEN MY BODY CLOCK WAS STILL ON PACIFIC TIME AND THIS CONTRIBUTED TO MY LACK OF AWARENESS. THE POS OF THE ENTRY BUTTONS, RELATIVE TO THE CRT SCREEN MAKES IT EASY TO ENTER ITEMS ON THE WRONG LINE.
