Narrative:
I was involved in a gear-up landing in may/xx/96. It was during a chkout ride in a piper arrow. The flight instructor, PIC, was instructing me to do maneuvers in a practice area near the airport. When the maneuvers were done to her likings, we entered the traffic pattern and she told me to do a normal landing. This landing went fine. We took off again and she told me to do a soft field landing. Just before turning base, I reached to put the gear down. She questioned me why I put it down there. So there was a bit of confusion regarding the gear. During the process of discussing when the gear should be put down, it never got put down. We did not notice this, there was no gear horn and we landed gear up. The chkout flight was for the purpose of determining if I was competent of flying that aircraft from the right seat for possible CFI training.

Title: DURING TRAINING PRACTICE, WITH AN INSTRUCTOR, TRAINEE ACCIDENTALLY LANDED GEAR UP CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE ACFT ONLY.
Narrative: I WAS INVOLVED IN A GEAR-UP LNDG IN MAY/XX/96. IT WAS DURING A CHKOUT RIDE IN A PIPER ARROW. THE FLT INSTRUCTOR, PIC, WAS INSTRUCTING ME TO DO MANEUVERS IN A PRACTICE AREA NEAR THE ARPT. WHEN THE MANEUVERS WERE DONE TO HER LIKINGS, WE ENTERED THE TFC PATTERN AND SHE TOLD ME TO DO A NORMAL LNDG. THIS LNDG WENT FINE. WE TOOK OFF AGAIN AND SHE TOLD ME TO DO A SOFT FIELD LNDG. JUST BEFORE TURNING BASE, I REACHED TO PUT THE GEAR DOWN. SHE QUESTIONED ME WHY I PUT IT DOWN THERE. SO THERE WAS A BIT OF CONFUSION REGARDING THE GEAR.
