Narrative:
Upon reaching the end of the runway and advising tower that I was ready for takeoff the tower told me to hold short. I acknowledged to hold short. After a brief time I thought that the tower told me to taxi into position and hold, which I did. After about 20 seconds in position and hold I heard the tower tell a single engine cessna to go around, after which the tower told me that my instructions were to hold short. There was no close call, however, I believe that I had inadvertently taxied onto the runway without proper clearance. I probably should have had someone else take that trip due to the fact that my mother had surgery for breast cancer 2 days prior and I think I was distracted by that coupled with the fact I was in a hurry to get home. I normally call back to verify if I am unsure of an instruction, but for some reason I did not this particular day.
