Narrative:
Upon taxi out for departure at yip, I observed an arm light illuminated on the left thrust reverser. After several attempts to extinguish the light I determined that it was a failure in the light switch. This airplane had such a problem in the past. Because of pressures by various company employees, ie, dispatchers, etc, to get the plane back to base for pending trips, I departed with the light illuminated. The light went out during climb out and remained out until our descent into pie. A landing was made uneventfully. Upon inspection it was noted that the inboard thrust reverser latch was in the unlock position. The latch was blocked by an improperly installed engine cowling. Contributing factors: 1) company's constant pressures to get the aircraft back to base after several delays in michigan for maintenance. 2) having had problems with the arm switch in the past (faulty indication). 3) company's past lack of concern for addressing discrepancies. Aircraft concerned: lear jet 25B.

Title: LEAR 25B ACFT DEPARTS WITH THRUST REVERSER ARM LIGHT ACTIVATED.
Narrative: UPON TAXI OUT FOR DEP AT YIP, I OBSERVED AN ARM LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE L THRUST REVERSER. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO EXTINGUISH THE LIGHT I DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A FAILURE IN THE LIGHT SWITCH. THIS AIRPLANE HAD SUCH A PROB IN THE PAST. BECAUSE OF PRESSURES BY VARIOUS COMPANY EMPLOYEES, IE, DISPATCHERS, ETC, TO GET THE PLANE BACK TO BASE FOR PENDING TRIPS, I DEPARTED WITH THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE LIGHT WENT OUT DURING CLBOUT AND REMAINED OUT UNTIL OUR DSCNT INTO PIE. A LNDG WAS MADE UNEVENTFULLY. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS NOTED THAT THE INBOARD THRUST REVERSER LATCH WAS IN THE UNLOCK POS.
