Narrative:

Cruising at FL330 approximately 35 mi south of flatrock (northbound), controller issued clearance to cross fak at FL220. I took the clearance, read it back, concurred with first officer and then first officer made descent. Over fak, controller asked our altitude. I told him FL220. He then issued clearance to climb to FL230, which we did. After landing at destination (phl), I called controller on phone and talked about what happened. Several days later, controller notified me that we were issued the original clearance -- fak at FL220 -- and problem was with center.
