Narrative:
The airport facility directory places the VOR ground check at taxiway F, gso R-035 at 3.6. The taxiway has been named M3 for over 18 months. The controller requested that I report the problem as apparently many pilots have wasted time searching for it. Cause: either none of several pilots have reported it to the FAA or it got lost in the system. It was reported by myself. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states he was taxiing in and asked tower for direction to the VOR chkpoint. Controller could not remember at first and looked in the AFD while asking another controller. Controller noticed the error of taxiway identify and said 'that's why everyone is having trouble finding it.' tower then directed him to the chkpoint. Tower implied that the error had been reported earlier but nothing was done. The 800 number reporter used is in the front of the AFD. Analyst also gave reporter the hotline number for reference.

Title: C172 PLT LOOKING FOR VOR GND CHKPOINT. AFD LISTS WRONG TXWY IDENT FOR THE LOCATION.
Narrative: THE ARPT FACILITY DIRECTORY PLACES THE VOR GND CHK AT TXWY F, GSO R-035 AT 3.6. THE TXWY HAS BEEN NAMED M3 FOR OVER 18 MONTHS. THE CTLR REQUESTED THAT I RPT THE PROB AS APPARENTLY MANY PLTS HAVE WASTED TIME SEARCHING FOR IT. CAUSE: EITHER NONE OF SEVERAL PLTS HAVE RPTED IT TO THE FAA OR IT GOT LOST IN THE SYS. IT WAS RPTED BY MYSELF. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES HE WAS TAXIING IN AND ASKED TWR FOR DIRECTION TO THE VOR CHKPOINT. CTLR COULD NOT REMEMBER AT FIRST AND LOOKED IN THE AFD WHILE ASKING ANOTHER CTLR. CTLR NOTICED THE ERROR OF TXWY IDENT AND SAID 'THAT'S WHY EVERYONE IS HAVING TROUBLE FINDING IT.' TWR THEN DIRECTED HIM TO THE CHKPOINT. TWR IMPLIED THAT THE ERROR HAD BEEN RPTED EARLIER BUT NOTHING WAS DONE. THE 800 NUMBER RPTR USED IS IN THE FRONT OF THE AFD. ANALYST ALSO GAVE RPTR THE HOTLINE NUMBER FOR REF.
