Narrative:
We didn't know runway 8/26 was closed for construction. After checking NOTAMS, listening to ATIS and preparing weight and balance we pushed back. Upon contacting ground control for taxi clearance we were told to taxi to a shorter runway. We requested runway 26, but were informed it was closed. Results were to taxi back and defuel. Aircraft departed 2-5 mins late, but at a weight which would allow flight to occur at V2 on the shorter runway. Supplemental information from acn 336785: we were told there would be 75 passenger and 110 showed. All had golf clubs and we were very heavy. We got passenger manifest 5 mins before pushback so we were fueled. It was 89 degrees.
