Narrative:
ZMP told us to cross 55 mi east of msp VOR at 10000 ft. I was PNF and repeated back 55 mi east at 10000 ft. First officer, who was flying, inserted a waypoint at 50 mi east. We did not notice the error until too late and actually leveled at 10000 ft at about 52 or 53 mi east of msp. No conflict and center said nothing to us about it. This all happened with other distrs including WX and inserting an oddball clearance into the FMS. Need to make sure we read back to each other the mileage when inserting crossing restrs.
