Narrative:
No other aircraft in area on same frequency. Orlando approach cleared aircraft for ILS runway 18R, PNF read back clearance, with (assumed) cleared to land readback on runway 18R. Approach did not handoff aircraft to tower (assumed) although 2 headed transmitter had tower frequency dialed in. Aircraft landed uneventfully, upon turnoff of runway approach told aircraft that they were transmitting on approach frequency. Entire flight crew could not definitely confirm that they had received landing clearance from tower. Solution: confirmation could be incorporated in approved before landing checklist.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: THE FLC LANDED WITHOUT CONTACTING TWR AND WITHOUT OBTAINING A LNDG CLRNC.
Narrative: NO OTHER ACFT IN AREA ON SAME FREQ. ORLANDO APCH CLRED ACFT FOR ILS RWY 18R, PNF READ BACK CLRNC, WITH (ASSUMED) CLRED TO LAND READBACK ON RWY 18R. APCH DID NOT HDOF ACFT TO TWR (ASSUMED) ALTHOUGH 2 HEADED XMITTER HAD TWR FREQ DIALED IN. ACFT LANDED UNEVENTFULLY, UPON TURNOFF OF RWY APCH TOLD ACFT THAT THEY WERE XMITTING ON APCH FREQ. ENTIRE FLC COULD NOT DEFINITELY CONFIRM THAT THEY HAD RECEIVED LNDG CLRNC FROM TWR. SOLUTION: CONFIRMATION COULD BE INCORPORATED IN APPROVED BEFORE LNDG CHKLIST.
