Narrative:

We were getting moderate turbulence at 11000 ft, asked for lower twice. Entered downdraft. Autoplt was engaged. Aircraft pitched over, descended 300 ft. Again asked for lower and disengaged autoplt to relevel. Broke out with roll clouds in our 12 O'clock. Stated to ATC that we were descending. At 10500 ft we were given clearance to 9000 ft.

Title: AN ACR B737-200 WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN ITS ASSIGNED ALT DUE TO WX FACTORS TSTMS, TURB, ROLL CLOUDS, ETC. THE CREW THEN DEVIATED FURTHER FROM THEIR ALT WHEN AN ALT CHANGE WAS NOT IMMEDIATELY FORTHCOMING.
