Narrative:
We landed on runway 13R and were taxiing on taxiway a when we were cleared by tower to cross runway 18R, landing traffic was cleared to land runway 18R, hold short of taxiway B. I noticed the aircraft was rolling out at a high rate of speed as it was approaching taxiway B. I held short of the runway 18R and tower call us to hold short at the same time seeing aircraft was not going to make the high speed turnoff. The aircraft turned at the 90 degree onto taxiway B. It was an air carrier Y S80. I do not know what his clearance was but I was told by tower he was holding short and we were cleared across runway 18R. It was not that close, but only because I elected not to taxi out in front of the landing aircraft. I have always thought this practice of land and hold short is just an accident waiting to happen. I do it and accept the responsibility, but I do not like it and someday maybe it will change. Hopefully before we bend some aircraft.

Title: FLC OF A SUPER MD80 STOPPED BEFORE XING A RWY TO WHICH THEY WERE CLRED TO CROSS WHEN THEY OBSERVED THE LNDG TFC WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO TURN OFF AT THE POINT INSTRUCTED IN THEIR LNDG CLRNC.
Narrative: WE LANDED ON RWY 13R AND WERE TAXIING ON TXWY A WHEN WE WERE CLRED BY TWR TO CROSS RWY 18R, LNDG TFC WAS CLRED TO LAND RWY 18R, HOLD SHORT OF TXWY B. I NOTICED THE ACFT WAS ROLLING OUT AT A HIGH RATE OF SPD AS IT WAS APCHING TXWY B. I HELD SHORT OF THE RWY 18R AND TWR CALL US TO HOLD SHORT AT THE SAME TIME SEEING ACFT WAS NOT GOING TO MAKE THE HIGH SPD TURNOFF. THE ACFT TURNED AT THE 90 DEG ONTO TXWY B. IT WAS AN ACR Y S80. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT HIS CLRNC WAS BUT I WAS TOLD BY TWR HE WAS HOLDING SHORT AND WE WERE CLRED ACROSS RWY 18R. IT WAS NOT THAT CLOSE, BUT ONLY BECAUSE I ELECTED NOT TO TAXI OUT IN FRONT OF THE LNDG ACFT. I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THIS PRACTICE OF LAND AND HOLD SHORT IS JUST AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I DO IT AND ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY, BUT I DO NOT LIKE IT AND SOMEDAY MAYBE IT WILL CHANGE. HOPEFULLY BEFORE WE BEND SOME ACFT.
