Narrative:

On descent into atlanta, was given clearance from 11000 ft to descend to 10000 ft. Acknowledged clearance. At 10500 ft approach control called and said assigned altitude was 11000 ft. Returned aft to 11000 ft, after informing approach control they had cleared us to 10000 ft. Approach control later acknowledged our readback had been partially blocked by another aircraft. Pilot proceeded to atl with no further problems.

Title: ATC FLC MISCOM. AFTER CLRING FLC TO 11000 FT, FLC HEARD 10000 FT AND READ IT BACK. BUT, THE READBACK WAS BLOCKED AND APCH CTLR DIDN'T HEAR IT. CTLR INTERVENED WHEN ACFT WAS AT 10500 FT AND CLARIFIED THEIR ALT CLRNC AS 11000 FT.

PLT PROCEEDED TO ATL WITH NO FURTHER PROBS.
