Location: s-se of ord. Departing ord in thunderstorm conditions. Departure cleared us to FL190. While deviating due to thunderstorm departure amended altitude to 13000 ft. We were at 12800 ft, 3000 FPM climb aircraft stopped at 13500 ft while on its way back to 13000 ft.

Title: AN ACR B757 OVERSHOT ITS ASSIGNED ALT IN CLB. TRACON DEP CTLR TECHNIQUE ATC. THE CTLR APPARENTLY DID NOT NOTICE THE RPTR'S HIGH RATE OF CLB. ACFT PERFORMANCE VERY HIGH RATE OF CLB AT LOW AND MEDIUM ALTS. WX FACTORS TSTMS IN THE AREA THAT REQUIRED DEV COMPLICATING THE CTLR'S WORK. DEP CTLR WORKLOAD PROBABLY VERY HIGH.
