Narrative:
ATC facility: merida center. Location: nukan intersection. Requested deviation to the north of track, proceeding direct nukan, due to WX. Request was approved. Just prior to nukan ATC advised conflict was a C130 aircraft and that our earlier request for south was approved, not north. All 3 crew members confirmed north of track was asked for and granted, south would have us in a thunderstorm. ATC assigned us a heading of 090 degrees to avoid traffic. Observed a TA on TCASII. Merida then handed off to havana advising us no separation lost conflict.
