Narrative:
Happened during radar vectors to final approach course runway 17C at dfw about 5 mi north of airport. Assigned 4000 ft and to expedite descent. ATC changed from runway 18R to runway 17C and in the busy time setting up for changed runway descended through 4000 ft. ATC a couple seconds later cleared us for a visual approach. No known conflict with any other aircraft and no TCASII advisories. Corrective action is on busy times during runway changes to maintain altitude awareness.

Title: AN ACR MLG FLC DSNDS BELOW ASSIGNED ALT WHILE RESETTING FLT SYS AFTER AN UNEXPECTED APCH CHANGE.
Narrative: HAPPENED DURING RADAR VECTORS TO FINAL APCH COURSE RWY 17C AT DFW ABOUT 5 MI N OF ARPT. ASSIGNED 4000 FT AND TO EXPEDITE DSCNT. ATC CHANGED FROM RWY 18R TO RWY 17C AND IN THE BUSY TIME SETTING UP FOR CHANGED RWY DSNDED THROUGH 4000 FT. ATC A COUPLE SECONDS LATER CLRED US FOR A VISUAL APCH. NO KNOWN CONFLICT WITH ANY OTHER ACFT AND NO TCASII ADVISORIES. CORRECTIVE ACTION IS ON BUSY TIMES DURING RWY CHANGES TO MAINTAIN ALT AWARENESS.
