Narrative:
Cleared visual approach for runway 17C at dfw. ILS frequencys dialed up. Captain mistook west side runways for east side runways and partially flew through runway 17C centerline. Error promptly caught and corrective action taken. No comment from tower. Side note: east side of dfw covered in shadows.

Title: MD80'S FLC INADVERTENTLY BEGAN TO LINE UP ON WRONG PARALLEL RWY DUE TO PART OF THE ARPT IN SHADOW. THEY CORRECTED BACK TO THE CORRECT RWY WITH NO COMMENT FROM THE TWR.
Narrative: CLRED VISUAL APCH FOR RWY 17C AT DFW. ILS FREQS DIALED UP. CAPT MISTOOK W SIDE RWYS FOR E SIDE RWYS AND PARTIALLY FLEW THROUGH RWY 17C CTRLINE. ERROR PROMPTLY CAUGHT AND CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN. NO COMMENT FROM TWR. SIDE NOTE: E SIDE OF DFW COVERED IN SHADOWS.
