Narrative:

I misunderstood the landing clearance and was lining up on runway 32R instead of runway 32L. I realized my mistake and contacted tower. They gave me a 360 degree right turn and cleared me to land runway 32R. There was no conflict. I tried to call earlier to verify my landing runway, but frequency was too congested. I will verify my clearance sooner in my approach in the future. This was the first time I have flown into this airport and I was unfamiliar with landmarks. I ended up with my downwind leg too close to the field and, when I turned final, I was not lined up properly.

Title: PLT OF AN SMA SEL INADVERTENTLY LINED UP WITH THE WRONG PARALLEL RWY. A CLOSE DOWNWIND LEG CAUSED HIM TO BE TOO CLOSE FOR A TURN TO THE CORRECT RWY. NO CONFLICT AND ATC INTERVENTION CORRECTED THE RPTR BACK TO THE INTENDED RWY.

Narrative: I MISUNDERSTOOD THE LNDG CLRNC AND WAS LINING UP ON RWY 32R INSTEAD OF RWY 32L. I REALIZED MY MISTAKE AND CONTACTED TWR. THEY GAVE ME A 360 DEG R TURN AND CLRED ME TO LAND RWY 32R. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT. I TRIED TO CALL EARLIER TO VERIFY MY LNDG RWY, BUT FREQ WAS TOO CONGESTED. I WILL VERIFY MY CLRNC SOONER IN MY APCH IN THE FUTURE. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE FLOWN INTO THIS ARPT AND I WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH LANDMARKS. I ENDED UP WITH MY DOWNWIND LEG TOO CLOSE TO THE FIELD AND, WHEN I TURNED FINAL, I WAS NOT LINED UP PROPERLY.
