Narrative:
Anticipated a visual approach but received clearance for an ILS while over the OM due to low visibility in haze. Approach never handed us off to tower, so we never received clearance to land. We discovered the error after exiting the runway. Tower advised they had transmitted in the blind and provided light signals indicating that we were cleared to land. Fatigue may have contributed in that I received only 3 hours sleep the night before and got up earlier than accustomed in the day of the incident.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LTT LANDED WITHOUT TWR CLRNC.
Narrative: ANTICIPATED A VISUAL APCH BUT RECEIVED CLRNC FOR AN ILS WHILE OVER THE OM DUE TO LOW VISIBILITY IN HAZE. APCH NEVER HANDED US OFF TO TWR, SO WE NEVER RECEIVED CLRNC TO LAND. WE DISCOVERED THE ERROR AFTER EXITING THE RWY. TWR ADVISED THEY HAD XMITTED IN THE BLIND AND PROVIDED LIGHT SIGNALS INDICATING THAT WE WERE CLRED TO LAND. FATIGUE MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED IN THAT I RECEIVED ONLY 3 HRS SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE AND GOT UP EARLIER THAN ACCUSTOMED IN THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT.
