Narrative:
Day began with VFR flight from brookhaven, ny, to easton, PA. Landed runway 36 without incident. WX and conditions were good VFR with light wind. After maintenance, departed runway 18 with an avionics technician aboard for a VFR test flight. Did a left downwind to runway 18. On final I felt a complete difference in the airplane because of an adjustment just made on the idle RPM of 550 RPM, which it was, to about 700 RPM which it is now. Even though I had the throttle all the way back, the plane floated and I had all I could do to try and stop. At the end of runway 18 I went into the grass not too far, but a mound of dirt lifted the front wheel and when it came down the tri-gear collapsed. From the end of the runway to where I stopped was about 50 ft.
