Narrative:
Rudder indicator was placarded inoperative. Rudder visual check was made and index worked ok. There was no MEL restr listed on the flight plan and we went to our cruise altitude of FL350. On our next leg, the flight plan listed an altitude restr, and at this point, we realized that we did not read the entire MEL items that were applicable. Don't rely on just one person to check the MEL.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR FLC FAILED TO READ THE MEL COMPLETELY. ACFT WAS DISPATCHED WITH RUDDER INDICATOR PLACARDED INOP, NO MEL RESTR ON THE FLT PLAN, HOWEVER MEL SHOWED A RESTR ALT.
