Narrative:

Approached boeing field (in cessna 182RG) from west. Reported over vashon. ATC ordered left downwind for runway 31L and report at reservoir. Reported, put on wait. Just before the field at 800 ft, ATC ordered cross runway 31L at mid-field and left base for runway 31R. Nursed full flaps and slipped to get down. Good approach and good setup but couldn't slow below 80 KTS on very short final. Strung out approach past the numbers to waste speed. Gentle flare, but plane flew (rose). In nursing it down I hit on front wheel, blew tire, damaged nosewheel strut and bent tip of propeller. In hindsight, because of short distance to alternate runway, I should have asked ATC for an alternative, or gone around. Not ATC's fault.

Title: AFTER A BOTCHED APCH, RPTR FORCED ACFT TO LAND DAMAGING NOSE GEAR AND PROP.

Narrative: APCHED BOEING FIELD (IN CESSNA 182RG) FROM W. RPTED OVER VASHON. ATC ORDERED L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 31L AND RPT AT RESERVOIR. RPTED, PUT ON WAIT. JUST BEFORE THE FIELD AT 800 FT, ATC ORDERED CROSS RWY 31L AT MID-FIELD AND L BASE FOR RWY 31R. NURSED FULL FLAPS AND SLIPPED TO GET DOWN. GOOD APCH AND GOOD SETUP BUT COULDN'T SLOW BELOW 80 KTS ON VERY SHORT FINAL. STRUNG OUT APCH PAST THE NUMBERS TO WASTE SPD. GENTLE FLARE, BUT PLANE FLEW (ROSE). IN NURSING IT DOWN I HIT ON FRONT WHEEL, BLEW TIRE, DAMAGED NOSEWHEEL STRUT AND BENT TIP OF PROP. IN HINDSIGHT, BECAUSE OF SHORT DISTANCE TO ALTERNATE RWY, I SHOULD HAVE ASKED ATC FOR AN ALTERNATIVE, OR GONE AROUND. NOT ATC'S FAULT.
