Narrative:
Stopped aircraft about 100 ft short of gate since left wingman did not have 2 lit wands. Just after wingman arrived back from retrieving wands, catering truck decided to approach aircraft from behind (left side). As he went around left wingtip, marshaller directed aircraft to taxi forward. Just seconds after moving, left wingtip struck catering truck as truck had become trapped after realizing that concrete barrier was now between truck and wingtip and now aircraft had begun to move again. This incident shows the importance of extreme diligence in ramp area and the need to insure that guide man have proper equipment.
