Narrative:

On descent into yyz the captain asked if they wanted us on the profile descent for runway 6. They replied not at this time. About 5 mins later ATC came back and said go ahead and join the profile. We were at 10000 ft and the captain dialed in 9000 ft and started down. I questioned the captain on the 9000 ft altitude and he then realized he had looked at the wrong fix arrival and we climbed back to 10000 ft. At no time was there a conflict with other aircraft. I do not think profile dscnts are any good.
