Narrative:

Initial check-in with ZLA cleared flight to FL260. We read back FL260 and climbed to the assigned altitude. Shortly after leveloff, center asked our altitude. We replied 'FL260' and he said, 'you were supposed to be at FL220, descend now to FL220!' we rapidly descended to FL220 with no further incident. We called the ZLA manager upon landing in bur to find that our flight plan had dropped out of the system, creating a confusion factor. No further action was taken.
