Narrative:
Location: palm springs, ca. At about XA30 local our flight lost communication with center, probably due to being allowed to fly out of radio range just prior to our normal descent point. When we re-established communication, lax was very upset and stated that they had been trying to contact us via ACARS. As luck would have it our ACARS was displaying a no communication light at this time. Lax then passed us to the appropriate frequency and we were directed to descend in a vectored, descending pattern. We received an ACARS message on landing telling us to contact ZLA on frequency 119.X. There were no further instructions from ATC or anyone else. Supplemental information from acn 349409: must have extensive no communication area east of san.

Narrative: LOCATION: PALM SPRINGS, CA. AT ABOUT XA30 LCL OUR FLT LOST COM WITH CTR, PROBABLY DUE TO BEING ALLOWED TO FLY OUT OF RADIO RANGE JUST PRIOR TO OUR NORMAL DSCNT POINT. WHEN WE RE-ESTABLISHED COM, LAX WAS VERY UPSET AND STATED THAT THEY HAD BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT US VIA ACARS. AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT OUR ACARS WAS DISPLAYING A NO COM LIGHT AT THIS TIME. LAX THEN PASSED US TO THE APPROPRIATE FREQ AND WE WERE DIRECTED TO DSND IN A VECTORED, DSNDING PATTERN. WE RECEIVED AN ACARS MESSAGE ON LNDG TELLING US TO CONTACT ZLA ON FREQ 119.X. THERE WERE NO FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS FROM ATC OR ANYONE ELSE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 349409: MUST HAVE EXTENSIVE NO COM AREA E OF SAN.
