Narrative:

Approaching bugge intersection we had been cleared to descend to and maintain 11000 ft by polar intersection. The first officer read back 11000 ft. At 11500 ft in the descent, approach told us to climb and maintain 12000 ft. The first officer read it back and we complied. We were given vectors over the field, then back out because of a medical emergency that was coming in behind us. The first officer asked approach if we had been cleared to 11000 ft. He said roger. I believe the medical emergency had everyone's main attention.
