Narrative:
En route from ewr to atl, over montebello VOR at FL350, #1 engine compressor stalled several times followed by an engine failure of the #1 engine. Engine failure checklist completed, emergency declared and diverted to gso for a normal engine out approach and landing. Passenger were briefed for an emergency landing and evacuate/evacuation, however, emergency evacuate/evacuation was not necessary.

Narrative: ENRTE FROM EWR TO ATL, OVER MONTEBELLO VOR AT FL350, #1 ENG COMPRESSOR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES FOLLOWED BY AN ENG FAILURE OF THE #1 ENG.
