Narrative:

Contacted by ZFW while we were in cruise at FL180 MSL and cleared to cross 30 mi northeast of byp VOR at 11000 ft MSL. I was PF, first officer received clearance, and I acknowledged it. An unrelated discussion then ensued, and I simply became distraction and forgot to start a descent. At 40 me northeast of byp, center called and asked if we would be able to make our crossing restr. I immediately realized we had made a mistake, and started a descent. We missed our restr by 2 mi. I don't think there was any traffic conflict.

Narrative: CONTACTED BY ZFW WHILE WE WERE IN CRUISE AT FL180 MSL AND CLRED TO CROSS 30 MI NE OF BYP VOR AT 11000 FT MSL. I WAS PF, FO RECEIVED CLRNC, AND I ACKNOWLEDGED IT. AN UNRELATED DISCUSSION THEN ENSUED, AND I SIMPLY BECAME DISTR AND FORGOT TO START A DSCNT. AT 40 ME NE OF BYP, CTR CALLED AND ASKED IF WE WOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE OUR XING RESTR. I IMMEDIATELY REALIZED WE HAD MADE A MISTAKE, AND STARTED A DSCNT. WE MISSED OUR RESTR BY 2 MI. I DON'T THINK THERE WAS ANY TFC CONFLICT.
