Narrative:

I got to the aircraft and the clipboard to check the inspections -- were not available from the last flight yet. I asked the instructor about them. He explicitly told me it had another .6 of an hour or so to go until the aircraft was due for the 100-hour inspection. After the flight, it was discovered the aircraft was overflown the period before. I was not the acting PIC, although I logged PIC time. Corrective action is to ensure to doublechk every time.
