Narrative:

After departure from dtw, lead flight attendant advised me of a loud banging at door 3R. I had so investigate. Noise was possible barrier strap hanging out door. Air carrier maintenance was contacted for guidance as to return to dtw or continue to destination. I was advised continuation would not be a safety problem and no speed or altitude restrs. I elected to continue to destination. On arrival, strap was confirmed. Numerous small chips and scratches were on door.

Title: AN ACR DC10 TOOK OFF WITH A BARRIER STRAP HANGING OUTSIDE OF DOOR 3R.

Narrative: AFTER DEP FROM DTW, LEAD FLT ATTENDANT ADVISED ME OF A LOUD BANGING AT DOOR 3R. I HAD SO INVESTIGATE. NOISE WAS POSSIBLE BARRIER STRAP HANGING OUT DOOR.
