Narrative:
Tower reported incursion of class B airspace. Having carefully prebriefed departure, and knowing the specific boundary and surface features, I am sure there was no incursion. I am also sure no violation was filed, and appreciate the help of our excellent tower crew. The main reason for this report: my experience with pilotage-type navigation is extensive, and my experience with TCA's span the entire history of these ugly things, with equipment ranging from J3's to B757's. I can tell you that the average airline pilot never even pulls the chart out! Student pilots are mystified by them, and experienced pilots can spend full time just steering clear. Departing myf, my home base for a quarter century, still requires either an instrument clearance or a full-time monitor of the local chart. I realize there is nothing any of us can do about this situation, until a GPS-map with audible alarms becomes standard, but I thought I'd write -- after all, it's free!
