Narrative:

Center frequency was 132.97, was given switch to ZTL on 126.77. Cockpit workload high at the time, read back frequency change but was distraction and did not switch frequencys. Got ACARS message from dispatch to switch to 126.77. We switched frequencys and contacted center. If ATC on 126.77 would have had ATC on 132.97 call us, we would have realized our oversight earlier. When we checked in on 126.77, we asked the controller if our late switch had caused any problems and he replied 'several.'
