Narrative:
Language barriers notwithstanding, we received and read back our clearance to ebbr. This being acknowledged by clearance delivery as correct, we proceeded to the runway for takeoff. While flying the small aircraft 1B (runway 15) SID, departure control queried us as to whether we were flying the published routing. Upon immediate intense scrutiny of the SID and our position we unanimously agreed that yes indeed we were flying the SID as published. No further dialogue ensued with departure control. We were then handed off to en route frequencys. Bemused as to departure control's concern, further investigation revealed that all departures out of lemd utilize not one but 2 pages of departure instructions. An 'initial climb out' procedure plus the assigned SID must be flown to properly depart the lemd airspace. The problem as I see it is that nowhere on any assigned SID(south) does it even remotely mention that an additional profile needs to be flown, hence the questioning by departure control.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: DC8 FREIGHTER DOES NOT FLY SID BECAUSE THE FLC DID NOT NOTICE THAT THE SID WAS PRINTED ON 2 PAGES, ONE ON THE INITIAL CLB OUT PROC AND THE OTHER ON THE SID.
Narrative: LANGUAGE BARRIERS NOTWITHSTANDING, WE RECEIVED AND READ BACK OUR CLRNC TO EBBR. THIS BEING ACKNOWLEDGED BY CLRNC DELIVERY AS CORRECT, WE PROCEEDED TO THE RWY FOR TKOF. WHILE FLYING THE SMA 1B (RWY 15) SID, DEP CTL QUERIED US AS TO WHETHER WE WERE FLYING THE PUBLISHED ROUTING. UPON IMMEDIATE INTENSE SCRUTINY OF THE SID AND OUR POS WE UNANIMOUSLY AGREED THAT YES INDEED WE WERE FLYING THE SID AS PUBLISHED. NO FURTHER DIALOGUE ENSUED WITH DEP CTL. WE WERE THEN HANDED OFF TO ENRTE FREQS. BEMUSED AS TO DEP CTL'S CONCERN, FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT ALL DEPS OUT OF LEMD UTILIZE NOT ONE BUT 2 PAGES OF DEP INSTRUCTIONS. AN 'INITIAL CLB OUT' PROC PLUS THE ASSIGNED SID MUST BE FLOWN TO PROPERLY DEPART THE LEMD AIRSPACE. THE PROB AS I SEE IT IS THAT NOWHERE ON ANY ASSIGNED SID(S) DOES IT EVEN REMOTELY MENTION THAT AN ADDITIONAL PROFILE NEEDS TO BE FLOWN, HENCE THE QUESTIONING BY DEP CTL.
