Narrative:
Altitude select button on autoplt panel was not engaged during descent. Therefore, aircraft descended below preset altitude of 4000 ft. By the time we realized it, we were at 3600 ft.

Title: FLC HAD AN MDT TURBOPROP OVERSHOOT DSCNT ALT BECAUSE THEY HAD NOT ENGAGED THE ALT PRESELECT BUTTON OF THE AUTOPLT.
Narrative: ALT SELECT BUTTON ON AUTOPLT PANEL WAS NOT ENGAGED DURING DSCNT. THEREFORE, ACFT DSNDED BELOW PRESET ALT OF 4000 FT. BY THE TIME WE REALIZED IT, WE WERE AT 3600 FT.
