Narrative:

Departure SID: kingdom 1, dfw, tx: the chart depiction of kingdom 1 shows a 240 degree heading when departing to south, however, an intersection of the dfw 273 degree radial is depicted as well. The captain misread the departure instructions (as per chart). Departed dfw heading 275-280 degrees to intercept the dfw 273 degree radial, as per the clearance for the wichita falls transition. Not as the instructions (per chart) stated, a 240 degree heading, creating a conflict with the arrs to dfw runway 13R. The depiction of the intersection of the 273 degree radial is not the intention of the SID. However, by design the incident may occur for the unfamiliar, due to such a depiction.
