Narrative:

I was flying, the captain was working the radios. He left the frequency to get ATIS and prepare landing data. The ZLA controller issued a descent to FL330 and I acknowledged. I dialed FL330 ft into the MCP and was preparing to update the FMC when the same controller issued the clearance. Again, I acknowledged the descent again. At the same moment the captain came back on the frequency and briefed me on the WX at lax and the arrival. Then the controller came on the frequency and issued descent clearance to FL240. That is when I noticed we were still at FL350.
