Narrative:
On departure from slc with a normal 1 bleeds off takeoff, a loud popping sound and rush of air was heard when the right bleed air valve was opened at 5500 ft MSL. Soon thereafter, the lead flight attendant reported smoke in the cabin. At that time the captain directed me to initiate the 'smoke removal and identify.' the captain flew and talked with departure and tower. I completed the emergency checklist and maintained communication with the cabin. With checklist complete, the smoke began to dissipate and was almost gone by landing, according to the lead flight attendant. After landing and confirming with flight attendant and fire trucks that there was no indication of fire and smoke, we taxied to the gate. Takeoff to landing was 9 mins. From report of smoke to landing was approximately 6 mins and very busy. All emergency and normal checklists were completed in accordance with operational procedures. Supplemental information from acn 356711: I declared an emergency. I walked back in the cabin and I noticed several rows of oxygen masks were down. The flight attendant said several passenger had forced open the mask doors and pulled the masks out. I had no indication of this prior to the passenger leaving the aircraft. I have no idea how this could have been prevented.

Title: ACR B737 CABIN ATTENDANT RPTS SMOKE IN THE CABIN AFTER TKOF. FLC DECLARE AN EMER AND RETURN TO SLC. SMOKE REMOVAL PROCS WERE APPLIED. SMOKE WAS ALMOST GONE ON LNDG. NO INDICATION OF A FIRE OBSERVED BY CABIN ATTENDANT AND EMER PERSONNEL. SOME PAX FORCED OPEN OXYGEN MASK DOORS AND PULLED MASKS OUT.
Narrative: ON DEP FROM SLC WITH A NORMAL 1 BLEEDS OFF TKOF, A LOUD POPPING SOUND AND RUSH OF AIR WAS HEARD WHEN THE R BLEED AIR VALVE WAS OPENED AT 5500 FT MSL. SOON THEREAFTER, THE LEAD FLT ATTENDANT RPTED SMOKE IN THE CABIN. AT THAT TIME THE CAPT DIRECTED ME TO INITIATE THE 'SMOKE REMOVAL AND IDENT.' THE CAPT FLEW AND TALKED WITH DEP AND TWR. I COMPLETED THE EMER CHKLIST AND MAINTAINED COM WITH THE CABIN. WITH CHKLIST COMPLETE, THE SMOKE BEGAN TO DISSIPATE AND WAS ALMOST GONE BY LNDG, ACCORDING TO THE LEAD FLT ATTENDANT. AFTER LNDG AND CONFIRMING WITH FLT ATTENDANT AND FIRE TRUCKS THAT THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF FIRE AND SMOKE, WE TAXIED TO THE GATE. TKOF TO LNDG WAS 9 MINS. FROM RPT OF SMOKE TO LNDG WAS APPROX 6 MINS AND VERY BUSY. ALL EMER AND NORMAL CHKLISTS WERE COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH OPERATIONAL PROCS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 356711: I DECLARED AN EMER. I WALKED BACK IN THE CABIN AND I NOTICED SEVERAL ROWS OF OXYGEN MASKS WERE DOWN. THE FLT ATTENDANT SAID SEVERAL PAX HAD FORCED OPEN THE MASK DOORS AND PULLED THE MASKS OUT. I HAD NO INDICATION OF THIS PRIOR TO THE PAX LEAVING THE ACFT. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED.
