Narrative:

Austin, tx. After takeoff on runway 31L at austin we were climbing through 300 ft and starting a turn to our assigned heading of 330 degrees. The tower tells us no need to acknowledge. It was dark at the time but when we looked for the traffic we saw the underside of a baron as it was in a right hand turn at our altitude and 300-500 ft away. If the baron had not been in the turn, or if he would have turned the wrong way by accident we would have collided. If I had been aware of his presence I may have delayed our takeoff until our departure path was clear. The tower never said a word until it was too late.
