Narrative:
After takeoff, landing gear failed to retract normally. Checklist procedure determined landing gear lever latch solenoid failure. Gear retracted through use of landing gear handle override trigger. Dispatcher concurred with decision to proceed to destination. Landed normally. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: this B737-300 captain said that after completing their's and the maintenance center's analysis of the retract problem they were able to simply override the latching mechanism and raise the gear. The gear extended normally on approach to dca. The mechanics in dca found a fault with a cable in the latching mechanism and this was replaced.

Title: AN ACR FLC WAS UNABLE TO RETRACT THE LNDG GEAR NORMALLY. AFTER DETERMINING THE PROB WAS WITHIN THE RETRACT LATCHING MECHANISM, THE FLC USED THE OVERRIDE TRIGGER TO RETRACT THE GEAR. B737-300.
Narrative: AFTER TKOF, LNDG GEAR FAILED TO RETRACT NORMALLY. CHKLIST PROC DETERMINED LNDG GEAR LEVER LATCH SOLENOID FAILURE. GEAR RETRACTED THROUGH USE OF LNDG GEAR HANDLE OVERRIDE TRIGGER. DISPATCHER CONCURRED WITH DECISION TO PROCEED TO DEST. LANDED NORMALLY. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THIS B737-300 CAPT SAID THAT AFTER COMPLETING THEIR'S AND THE MAINT CTR'S ANALYSIS OF THE RETRACT PROB THEY WERE ABLE TO SIMPLY OVERRIDE THE LATCHING MECHANISM AND RAISE THE GEAR. THE GEAR EXTENDED NORMALLY ON APCH TO DCA. THE MECHS IN DCA FOUND A FAULT WITH A CABLE IN THE LATCHING MECHANISM AND THIS WAS REPLACED.
