Narrative:

A bird strike at FL310 cracked the right windshield seriously. As ATC could not immediately clear us to a low altitude we declared an emergency and then began an emergency descent to 17000 ft MSL. Cabin pressure was reduced to a 10000 ft MSL altitude and we returned to den for an uneventful landing. Complete windshield replacement was required as the outer pane was shattered.

Title: AN MLG ACFT DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED TO DEN DUE TO A BIRD STRIKE CRACKING THE R WINDSHIELD.

Narrative: A BIRD STRIKE AT FL310 CRACKED THE R WINDSHIELD SERIOUSLY. AS ATC COULD NOT IMMEDIATELY CLR US TO A LOW ALT WE DECLARED AN EMER AND THEN BEGAN AN EMER DSCNT TO 17000 FT MSL. CABIN PRESSURE WAS REDUCED TO A 10000 FT MSL ALT AND WE RETURNED TO DEN FOR AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG. COMPLETE WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT WAS REQUIRED AS THE OUTER PANE WAS SHATTERED.
