Narrative:
Failure to get ATC clearance through ACARS/pre departure clearance. New captain IOE. IOE captain didn't brief thorough departure briefing, thereby missing the transponder code. Den has a standard departure procedure (den 1). Discovered when den tower asked for transponder on, on climb out. I got an immediate pre departure clearance from ACARS and continued normally. Had we been given an unusual clearance we never would have known about it. Suggest that we give our transponder code to ramp control on taxi out to prevent this happening again.

Title: FLC OF AN LGT DEPARTED WITHOUT RECEIVING THEIR PDC FLT PLAN. ATC INTERVENTION ALERTED THE CREW AND THE PDC WAS IMMEDIATELY OBTAINED.
Narrative: FAILURE TO GET ATC CLRNC THROUGH ACARS/PDC. NEW CAPT IOE. IOE CAPT DIDN'T BRIEF THOROUGH DEP BRIEFING, THEREBY MISSING THE XPONDER CODE. DEN HAS A STANDARD DEP PROC (DEN 1). DISCOVERED WHEN DEN TWR ASKED FOR XPONDER ON, ON CLBOUT. I GOT AN IMMEDIATE PDC FROM ACARS AND CONTINUED NORMALLY. HAD WE BEEN GIVEN AN UNUSUAL CLRNC WE NEVER WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT IT. SUGGEST THAT WE GIVE OUR XPONDER CODE TO RAMP CTL ON TAXI OUT TO PREVENT THIS HAPPENING AGAIN.
