Narrative:
After landing runway 23R at tys I thought tower said left turn at B2 stay with me to the gate. No hold short instructions were given. Approaching runway 23L I turned on ground floods, wing nacelle and nose gear lights to bright. Both left and right sides were visually cleared by myself and first officer. While crossing runway 23L, tower gave takeoff clearance to another aircraft and told us to hold short runway 23L. We told tower we were already on runway 23L and would be unable to hold short. Tower canceled takeoff clearance for the other aircraft. We advised tower clear of runway 23L and continued to the gate. The other aircraft had not even begun his takeoff roll when clearance for takeoff was canceled, so no immediate action was required. The controller working both position of ground and tower in this case, I feel, was the cause for confusion. When he saw our lights turn on while crossing runway 23L, he realized a conflict had developed. A single controller is often used with one runway operation, but in this instance with multiple runway operation it may have been unsafe.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ATCT CTLR CLRED AN ACR JET TO CLR RWY 23R AT B2 AND STAY WITH HIM TO THE GATE. AS THE ACFT WAS XING RWY 23L ON B2 THE FLC HEARD THE CTLR CLR AN ACFT FOR TKOF ON RWY 23L AND WAS TOLD TO HOLD SHORT. THE ACR TOLD THE TWR THEY WERE ON THE RWY AND THE CTLR CANCELED THE OTHER ACFT'S TKOF CLRNC. NO CONFLICT OCCURRED AND RPTR SAYS CTLR WORKING BOTH LCL AND GND CTL.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG RWY 23R AT TYS I THOUGHT TWR SAID L TURN AT B2 STAY WITH ME TO THE GATE. NO HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTIONS WERE GIVEN. APCHING RWY 23L I TURNED ON GND FLOODS, WING NACELLE AND NOSE GEAR LIGHTS TO BRIGHT. BOTH L AND R SIDES WERE VISUALLY CLRED BY MYSELF AND FO. WHILE XING RWY 23L, TWR GAVE TKOF CLRNC TO ANOTHER ACFT AND TOLD US TO HOLD SHORT RWY 23L. WE TOLD TWR WE WERE ALREADY ON RWY 23L AND WOULD BE UNABLE TO HOLD SHORT. TWR CANCELED TKOF CLRNC FOR THE OTHER ACFT. WE ADVISED TWR CLR OF RWY 23L AND CONTINUED TO THE GATE. THE OTHER ACFT HAD NOT EVEN BEGUN HIS TKOF ROLL WHEN CLRNC FOR TKOF WAS CANCELED, SO NO IMMEDIATE ACTION WAS REQUIRED. THE CTLR WORKING BOTH POS OF GND AND TWR IN THIS CASE, I FEEL, WAS THE CAUSE FOR CONFUSION. WHEN HE SAW OUR LIGHTS TURN ON WHILE XING RWY 23L, HE REALIZED A CONFLICT HAD DEVELOPED. A SINGLE CTLR IS OFTEN USED WITH ONE RWY OP, BUT IN THIS INSTANCE WITH MULTIPLE RWY OP IT MAY HAVE BEEN UNSAFE.
