Narrative:
Evening, good visibility, accepted visual approach on downwind, turning final, low sun and smog reduced visibility. Airport still in sight, but specific runway contact lost for a few seconds. Had ILS backup and landed visual, no problem. Only reason for form is FAA inspector on jump seat questioned situation.

Narrative: EVENING, GOOD VISIBILITY, ACCEPTED VISUAL APCH ON DOWNWIND, TURNING FINAL, LOW SUN AND SMOG REDUCED VISIBILITY. ARPT STILL IN SIGHT, BUT SPECIFIC RWY CONTACT LOST FOR A FEW SECONDS. HAD ILS BACKUP AND LANDED VISUAL, NO PROB. ONLY REASON FOR FORM IS FAA INSPECTOR ON JUMP SEAT QUESTIONED SIT.
